BLC has recently acquired an additional two pieces of analytical laboratory equipment:
- Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometer (LC-MS)
- Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (ICP-MS)
This analytical laboratory equipment will be used to deliver chemical testing services and to further broaden the range of chemicals BLC can test for. These purchases also help BLC to maintain a fast and reliable services, delivering testing data to our customers faster than many competitors.
About the Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometer (LC-MS)
BLC are pleased to announce the installation of a new state of the art Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometer (LC-MS) triple quad system (QQQ), which is a valuable tool for the analysis of semi- and non-volatile compounds and will complement the existing LC-MS instrument at BLC.
LC-MS is an analytical technique that combines the physical separation capabilities of liquid chromatography with the mass analysis capabilities of mass spectrometry. LC-MS-QQQ is a powerful technique used for many applications, which has very high sensitivity and selectivity.
About the Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (ICP-MS)
In addition to this, BLC have also purchased an additional Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (ICP-MS), an analytical technique used for elemental determinations. An ICP-MS combines a high-temperature ICP (Inductively Coupled Plasma) source with a mass spectrometer. The ICP source converts the atoms of the elements in the sample to ions. These ions are then separated and detected by the mass spectrometer.
